Gbemisola Saraki defects to PDP


Former lawmaker, Senator Gbemisola Saraki has decamped to the ruling party of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) in Kwara state with the pledge to work with like minds to wrestle power from the present government in the state.


Senator Saraki alleged that the state has not witnessed any tangible development since the present administration took over, accusing those in power of neglecting majority of those that voted them into power while declaring her support for the PDP in a rally in Ilorin, the state capital.

She further lamented the alleged mismanagement of the state resources by a “selected few who do not have the love of the state at heart” and expressed her readiness to work with others in turning around the fortunes of the state.

She urged members of the PDP in the state to work together in achieving its goals and promised to support the new leadership of the party in its transformation agenda to bring sanity to the party.

Saraki, who said she was worried about the plight of youths in the state, added that majority of them were jobless.

She however, expressed optimism that if voted into power, PDP would return Kwara to the path of excellence in the management of human and natural resources.

She urged the people of Kwara to support President Goodluck Jonathan, saying she was happy that majority of the people remained in PDP.

Mr Lola Ashiru, an APC chieftain in Offa, Kwara, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, also of APC and Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the governorship candidate of the CPC in the 2011 elections were among those who defected to the PDP.
