LAUTECH gets new VC

The Governing Council of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has appointed Professor Adeniyi Sulaiman Gbadegesin as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.

His appointment, was contained in a letter dated February 13, 2014 and signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Professor Wale Omole. Details show that the appointment was for a duration of five years, non renewable.

Gbadegesin, a professor of Geography went to the University of Ibadan where he bagged a B.Sc (First Class Honours) in 1979, as the best graduating student in Geography.

After the mandatory National Youth Service in Bauchi State, he enrolled for a postgraduate Master’s programme in Geography also at the University of Ibadan, completing it in 1981.
He went on to bag a Ph.D programme in 1984.

His career in academics began in January 1983 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Geography, University of Ibadan, where he got upgraded to Lecturer II Grade in 1984, Lecturer Grade I in 1988, Senior Lecturer in 1991, Reader in 1996, and became Professor of Geography on October1, 1999.

With 60 publications in learned journals, books and refereed proceedings, Gbadegesin has attended and presented papers at numerous International and Local Conferences.
