NUGA Games: OAU to host the 24th edition this Week

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) will this week play host to the 24th edition of the Nigerian University Games (NUGA).

The games which will hold for 10 days, starting on Wednesday, February 12, will feature Over 7000 athletes from 60 universities.

The opening ceremony is billed for Saturday, February 15 and the closing ceremony on the 22nd.

This would be the third time OAU is hosting the event and preparations are in top gear to ensure this edition is the best in the event’s history with Integral Sports, a sports marketing company, helping to deliver a raft of brands to partner with the University in staging the Games. These include Diamond Bank, SuperSport, CoolFM, WazobiaFM, NigeriaInfo, Coollink and Coca Cola.

There are lots of activities lined up during the event and followers of the Games will be able to keep up via SuperSport, a first in the history of the Games.

Another highlight is a concert hosted by Diamond Bank, which will see Banky W leading the Empire Mates Entertainment Crew and others  to perform  at the Amphi Theatre of the university on the last day of the Games.

The NUGA Games has produced the likes of Olusoji Fasuba, Africa’s fastest man, who competed for OAU and Seyi Olofinjana, an  ex-International who played football for Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso(LAUTECH).
