Ondo Speaker, Samuel Adesina, died of urinary bladder cancer

The Speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly, Samuel Adesina died on Monday night, the Ondo state government has confirmed.

The Secretary to the state government Dr. Rotimi Adelola said in a statement that the death occurred in the course of a protracted battle with cancer of the urinary bladder.

“The Ondo state government received the news of the death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Adesina Samuel Ajayi with disbelief but in total submission to the will of God.
All hopes were that the late Speaker will pull through his health challenge which has seen him taking time off official function for some time.

The death took him at this time can be no less of a shock to the government and people of the State, as the prayers of all was for full recovery,” reads the statement.

Adesina’s absence from the House of Assembly has been a source of worry for over three months as he was moving about to seek medical attention, especially from the spiritualists.

Adesina represented Odigbo Constituency 11.

He was the first Speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly to have spent three years in that position without being impeached.

Also, the first legislator voted three consecutive times by his people to represent them in the state Assembly.

Adesina was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before he decamped to the Labour Party (LP) on April 8, 2010 to pave way for his emergence as Speaker of the Assembly.
