Type II diabetes is disease where the body does not produce enough insulin. There is no relief from this once you get it as it causes a lot of damage to the body and other internal organs. 
Since there is never enough insulin to maintain the surplus blood sugar, the body reacts adversely to it causing you much pain and discomfort. Type II Diabetes can get pretty serious sometimes even resulting in death. With the increasing rate of diabetics around the world, there should be more awareness about how you can prevent it rather than suffer after getting it. Here are a few ways to prevent type II diabetes.

1. Maintaining a healthy body weight
One of the main reasons for a heightened risk of diabetes is the weight around your abdomen. Reducing the size of your stomach decreases the risk of diabetes to a great extent. Too much fat on the abdomen region reduces the production of insulin, thereby making you a diabetic. Maintain a healthy body weight that is also proportional to prevent type II diabetes.

2. Reducing the intake of sugary foods
Sometimes you may be at high risk for type II diabetes because your parents are both diabetic. In such cases it is advised to eat as much as less sugary foods as possible. Doing this will prevent you from getting type II diabetes for a while. With the proper diet you may even be lucky and not get it at all.

3. Choosing the right fats
In your quest to lose weight and prevent diabetes you should not shun fats completely. Omega-3 fatty acids are good for the heart as well as for diabetes prevention. But stay away from saturated fat that can promote inflammation and can cause insulin resistance in the body. Substitute your regular oil with olive oil and go the Mediterranean way to prevent diabetes.

4. Exercising your way to good health
Exercising does not mean hitting the gym every day and keeping your body buff. Maintain an active lifestyle by going for short runs or long walks. Take the stairs when you can and make sure you walk inside the house as much as you can. Run errands and stop using the car to travel short distances. If you can walk it, you should do it.

5. Spicing up your food
Some spices like cinnamon, black pepper and thyme have diabetes preventive nature. You can add these spices liberally to your diet to prevent the early onset of diabetes.

There is never rally a cure for diabetes. You can keep your blood sugar levels under control with medications at the least. Prevention is always better than cure, and if you can do some simple changes to your lifestyle to stay away from diabetes, nothing can be better.
