Nigerian Premiere League: Wolves, Bayelsa secure win, Enyimba held

The Nigerian premier league which kicked off last weekend, saw three matches decided on Thursday.
Enyimba forced Sunshine Stars to a 0-0 draw, while there were home wins for Bayelsa United and Warri Wolves in rescheduled league matches.

Sunshine goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was at his best to keep Enyimba strikers at bay.

Emeka Nwanna missed a glaring chance to score for Enyimba as the keeper Ezenwa covered well to confuse the experienced striker.

Returning striker Dele Olorundare failed to give Sunshine the lead in the 51st minute and six minutes later, Abdulrahman Bashir missed a scoring chance to put Enyimba ahead. 

The Restoration Boys got their second win in the spate of five days after they beat hard-fighting Blue Angels 1-0 at their adopted home in Sapele. Mutiu Adegoke got the match winner in the 20th minute and both sides closed shop thereafter.

Bayelsa United got to the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup last Saturday and were looking for avenue too to kick-start their league campaign on an impressive note.

They sure did after they stopped Sharks 1 -0. Bayelsa United will play away to Gombe United this weekend in their Matchday two.

The Seasiders beat El Kanemi Warriors 1-0 through a 58th minute penalty converted by Musa Najere. It was his second consecutive goal in two games for Wolves after another spot kick goal against Union Douala of Cameroon in the CAF Confederation Cup.

It was another win for Warri Wolves after the club handed. 4-1 defeat to El Kanemi Warriors when they clashed in similar tie last season. It was the game the Wolves secured their first league win last season after successive draws at both home and away last season.
